A Greener Future...

Filmmaking is possibly one of the most environmentally destructive art forms that exists. Trash bags full of recyclable cans, water bottles, paper and cardboard add to ever-crowding landfills. Poorly planned transportation results in unnecessary air pollution. The manufacturing and processing of film stock releases toxic chemicals into the air and water supply.

As filmmakers, we must recognize the consequences of our creations. It is time to invest in the future of our planet, and take the initiative to make a change.

Here are just a few of the actions can be taken to reduce the environmental impact of our films:

1. Shoot on a digital tape-less format.

2. Use email instead of printing for all documents

3. When printing is necessary, print documents double sided on recycled paper.

4. Provide reusable water bottles, plates, and cups.

5. When necessary, use unwaxed paper plates and cups that can be composted.

6. Recycle all cans, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard.

7. Use recycled and environmentally friendly building materials for sets.

8. Utilize and encourage carpooling and public transit as much as possible.

9. Monitor the carbon footprint made by road and air travel, then purchase carbon credits to offset those emissions.

10. Having a person who diligently watches after and deals with environmental issues on set is necessary to successfully achieve these goals. That's where we come in!
